The district's research and retrieval fee is 30.00 per hour.
District Policy
Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) C.R.S. § 24-72-201 to 206 CORA provides that all public records shall be open for inspection by any person at reasonable times, except as provided in part 2 or as otherwise specifically provided by law. When are Documents Made Available? C.R.S. §24-72-203 requires making the documents available within three working days or seven working days if extenuating circumstances exist.
The three-day period to respond corresponds with the time the 3request was received if during normal business hours, otherwise, the time begins at the beginning of the next business day.
When a substantial request is made, the records custodian can extend the timeframes regarding the inspection of public records that are reasonably necessary for the protection of the records and necessary to prevent undue interference with the regular discharge of duties. CORA permits the District to recover the cost of researching, retrieving, and reviewing documents after the first hour.
The cost is $30 per hour after the first hour.
There is an additional charge of $0.25 per page for regular paper copies or an additional cost for the cost of other paper sizes.
The District does not charge a fee for sending documents by email.
The District will make a good-faith effort to notify the requestor of any potential costs before the work begins.
